Artist - SLICK

SLICK

Slick, born Richard P. Wyrgatsch II and raised in Hawaii, moved to Los Angeles when he was 18 years old to pursue a career in commercial art and escape from prosecution for vandalism. It was at OTIS Art Institute of Parsons where he stumbled into his crew K.II.S (Kill to Succeed), one of L.A.’s most respected crews. It may have been his years as an airbrush artist in the 80s, his formal training at OTIS or just his intuitive sense of dynamic composition that set his

work apart from the rest in the fame-driven sport referred to as “bombing.” Third Rail Clothing, Fuct, Shaolin Worldwide and Dissizit! are clothing companies Slick founded. Being that fashion is so closely knitted with the music and motion picture industries, he also found his art being attached to such projects as "Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey", "Charlie's Angels", and "Ocean’s 12", as well as videos for Ice T, Ice Cube and Red Hot Chili Peppers just to name a few. After all these years, Slick is still bombing; however, now it's mostly on canvases for galleries and legal mural commissions worldwide, proving graff writers never die, they just get buffed.
